Our Story

The Mill USA connects two families on different continents. It was born out of a friendship between women in these families. Michelle, a South African with a passion for job creation and a rich family heritage in the textile industry and Kathleen, an American interior designer with a love for Africa, beauty and social impact.

We train and employ skilled artisans from the Nama & Ovambo tribes in an area of Namibia that suffers from an 80% unemployment rate. In South Africa, our family factory of four generations are preserving the skill and art of weaving.
